Defense Grid: The Awakening is a tower defense game, which was first published way back in 2009. If you decide to download the track today, you can probably find it for sale, as I did. In this case, or even if you have the full price if I am to be honest, you really should make a purchase. Hidden Path Entertainment has created a truly satisfying whole.
There is a story, of course, the aliens invade a futuristic complex and need to register. You do this by activating defense measures (turreted gun for most), while a chatty AI buddy, who sometimes sounds a bit like the old GI Joe cartoon you Zartan is alerted and speaks of raspberries. There once was a man, you understand. This is years ago, however, and now he just wants to help you how to defend “the grid.” The story is not particularly deep. It is told in bits and pieces that are extracts of dialogue sad to hear you again, if you happen to be seeking to conclude a specific time. At the end of the game, you will know the complete history of your mechanical friend tragic.
The plot is not really the reason that Defense Grid is a wonderful experience, though. The highlight is the strategy side of things. Place towers to stop a seemingly endless stream of enemies does not seem like it should be the basis for a subgenre of success, but for some reason he almost always does.
